Dear Members,
George Weston Foods (GWF) is a leading food manufacturer in Australia and New Zealand, with over 6,000 employees across 40 locations. Its portfolio features well-known brands such as Tip Top Bakery, Ploughman’s Bakery, Burgen bread, DON Smallgoods, Mauri, Jasol, and Yumi’s. Additionally, GWF is New Zealand’s top producer of meat pies, with popular brands including Big Ben, Dad’s Pies, and The Baker’s Son.
GWF is seeking to improve their pie production quality control by implementing bone and foreign material detection systems after meat is diced and before it is cooked. They already have detection equipment for the final product.
GWF has received several proposals from equipment suppliers and, as part of their technical evaluation, is interested in:
- Consulting with other companies that have installed similar detection systems;
- While suppliers have suggested X-ray detection systems, GWF is also open to exploring alternative technologies.
We would greatly appreciate insights and recommendations from other businesses within Best Practice Network regarding foreign object detection in uncooked diced meat. We are keen to learn about their experiences and any feedback they can offer.
If you can assist, please contact me via email.
Thank you in advance.
