Best Practice Network Member Request: Prysmian Group “Maintenance Management System”

Dear Members,

Prysmian Group have been producing tailor-made cables in Australia since 1944 and will continue to do so. Our team consisting of highly skilled and experienced staff know what it takes to make cables that withstand everything, from termites to hazardous mine sites. Don’t be fooled by the fact that we are part of a global company. To us local presence here in Australia means everything.

Aussies in general can rest assured the power cables will provide us the electricity we need without interruptions. It’s about taking responsibility and only offering the best cables possible for Australian conditions.

That is why we continue to have two large plants in Australia: one in Liverpool for power cables and one in Dee Why for optical and copper cables.

See more about Prysmian Group Australia here.

Prysmian are in the process of updating their maintenance management system and are looking for best practice examples to leverage on prior learning from key users.

Prysmian currently run SAP PM for key activities like maintenance parts purchasing and preventative maintenance tasks lists. Our front end maintenance system “mobysis” feeding SAP is quite old and clunky but is user friendly from a recording and data entry view point.

Prysmian are looking at a solution that can track breakdowns, set maintenance tasks, control spare parts, run key dashboards etc. and were exploring SAP Fiori as a first choice to remain consistent with their ERP supported system.

If there are any network members that can share their learning with Fiori or other CMMS that they recommend for Prysmian to consider please reach out to:

Shane Middleton (maintenance manager)

Voeun Ny (Site services manager)

Thank you in advance for your support and cooperation.
