Member Request: Bluefield – “best practice Preventive Maintenance checklist”

Dear Members,

Bluefield was established in 2010. Since this time, the company has grown to over 80 staff and we have offices in Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Chile (Santiago), Canada (Toronto), and Finland. Bluefield provides specialist and practical services to asset-intensive industries globally. We service small to large companies and contractors, and pride ourselves on our ability to deliver results. The services that Bluefield offers cover the whole asset life cycle, from planning and optimisation, through to operations and reliability improvement.

At Bluefield, our mission is to help clients get more from assets. Our approach to ongoing asset improvement is based on the concept of proactive maintenance. Proactive maintenance is simple at its core – it’s about identifying, understanding and managing failure modes so that defects are identified and corrected early, or prevented altogether. Preventive Maintenance checklists are most widely used to enable the tradesperson to carry out and record proactive maintenance tasks and results.

We are seeking feedback and guidance from Best Practice Network on what makes a best practice Preventive Maintenance (PM) checklist.
Ideally we would like to know, what makes the PM checklists that the trades use good or bad?

In our experience these documents are so subjective that it is almost impossible to define a best practice, but it would be good to get input and suggestions from others. Even as we go into the digital age we see that there are many enhancements that can be made, but we have also seen that going digital is mostly just digitising the same documents that were on paper.

We look forward to receiving suggestions and examples of good and sustainable PM checklists that you have seen or used, and any advice on what you think makes a best practice PM checklist. We welcome the opportunity to further discuss and connect with members of Best Practice Network.

If you are happy to share what has worked within your industry, please contact James Owen via email or by phone on +61 439 214 146.

Looking forward to hearing from the Best Practice Network.
Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

James Owen
