Dear Members,
BlueScope is a steel manufacturer and provider of steel solutions, including roll formed building products such as roofing, walling and structural elements. The roll forming business unit in Australia has around 40 sites across the country.
The existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) system is being replaced and the project team assigned to do this, is currently in the middle of designing the system and business processes to achieve the specified business requirements.
The project team is keen to talk to other organisations within Best Practice Network, to help us with our thinking as we develop the new processes.
We are particularly interested in:
- Processes related to warehouse management, including picking and packing;
- Use of technology such as scanners, design of stores areas for flow, materials handling for stores items (conveyors, trolleys, etc) and so on
Across the business we have a mixture of highly automated stores and highly manual stores. A major focus in this project is to develop solutions to help our manual stores optimise layout, system processes and low cost technology to deliver benefits.
We would love to hear from anyone who has experience with developing processes to support effective warehouse management, including both system and business processes. Where it makes sense and is achievable, we would like to visit sites to see these processes in practice.
If you can help, please email: [email protected]
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
