Yates Gardening Products, a division of Dulux Group manufactures a variety of potting mixes, fertilisers and growing media for the Australian and overseas market. Part of the range includes granulised and powdered products in pouches and pillow type packaging.
As part of the Dulux Groups ongoing sustainability goals, Yates are dedicated in their transition to recyclable mono-plastics. One of the challenges Yates have faced is bag sealing of mono-plastics. The sizes are small bags ranging from 1.5-7kg or 2L to ~8L in volume. Bags range from 190mm to 240mm wide and up to 440mm in height. Bags are 3 sided gusseted, stand up pouch bags.
We would welcome any guidance from organisations within Best Practice Network that have gone down this pathway.
We would appreciate feedback on :
- Are there any recommendations of suppliers of sealing technology or suppliers of packaging which have experience in this area?
- Has someone recently made this transition and do they have any advice on working through this?
